National Theatre of Greece Comes
to Northern California!
The
National Theatre of Greece will be performing Aristophanes'
Lysistrata in a U.S. debut at the Calvin
Simmons Theater in Oakland, Friday, Oct. 1 &
Sunday, Oct. 3.
Lysistrata tells the story of the Athenian
woman of the same name who, fed up with the endless
warring between Athens and Sparta, takes diplomacy
into her own hands by organizing with her fellow women
a sex strike designed to force an end to the war.
Exuberant, hilarious, provocative, and thoroughly
modern, Lysistrata is a classic comedy of
the Greek stage.
The performance will be in Modern Greek with English
supertitles.
Discounted ticktets are available
