RESEARCH Stations

The bulk of the the computers the Library offers for research are located in the link area on 2 SOUTH  and in the area surrounding the Reference Desk on the adjacent wing.  They are designated as RESEARCH Stations and chat, games and personal email are not allowed.  These RESEARCH Stations provide direct online access to the Web version of EUREKA the Library Catalog of what the library owns as well as to over 100 databases linked from Library Home Page.  They

They do not provide word processing or other related software.

Many of these databases contain full text articles. For a list of these databases go to the Databases and Periodical Indexes page.

Off campus access from home or office to these subscription databases is restricted to CSUS students, faculty and staff and is authenticated by SacLink account and password.

EUREKA Library Catalog

Use EUREKA to determine what the library owns on your topic.  You can search by Subject or by Advanced keyword if you are not sure of the correct subject heading.  The nearby Library of Congress Subject Headings may be useful as well, and if you are confused about how to begin your research, please ask for help at the Reference Desk.  The Instructional Services page is a also a good place to start your research. It contains information guides for new students, a survival guide for Freshmen and lots of good advice on getting started with your research.  You can also scan the list of Research Guides available online to lead you to excellent resources on your topic.

All the Library Research Stations can only print to the nearby PrintSmart laser printers which require a campus OneCard or the purchase of a debit card at the OneCard Value Transfer Station which is located on the side of the escalator near the Circulation Desk on 1 NORTH.

Juvenile Collection and Curriculum Collection

Special collections of juvenile literature and curriculum materials are provided for students in the teacher training programs. The Juvenile Collection is arranged according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System, as are most public and school libraries.

Circulating Books

The white shelves begin with call number A  and continue clockwise around the room through all the call numbers in the fields of social science, ending on the white shelves just to the west of where you are standing with call number HZ. For a full list of call numbers and floor locations click here.

Circulating Books are shelved in alphabetical and then numeric order by their Library of Congress call numbers. Circulating books may be checked out of the Library for a period of three weeks and may be renewed indefinitely unless someone else has placed a hold request on the book. Users may request renewals and holds in person at the Circulation Desk. CSUS students faculty and staff may also do so by using EUREKA, either in the Library or remotely using a SacLink or other Internet account.
