CSUS Theses and Master ProjectsThe long rows of green books are CSUS Theses and Master Projects
in alphabetical order by author. The call number of a thesis is an alpha-numeric
representation of the author's names. There are green handouts nearby on the small Thesis
Card Catalog which explain how to find theses by subject, by academic department, and by
academic adviser. LOWER LEVEL BooksDue to lack of space on their original subject floors, CSUS Theses and the rest of the books on the orange shelves, deemed low use because they are older or superseded, have been moved to this location. Their call numbers are preceded by the designation LOWER LEVEL. The farthest range contains oversize books, called quartos and folios, that were originally on 2 SOUTH. Bound Periodicals in Compact ShelvingBound Periodicals published before 1980, are located along the
south wall on compact shelving. They are in alphabetical order by title, beginning A at
the near end and running to Z in the southwest. To open aisles in the compact shelving,
follow the instructions on the end panels. Higher-use periodical s from 1980 to the
present are located on 3 SOUTH. The Sorting Area for the periodicals on this floor against
this east wall leading to the elevator lobby. Disability Services Center/High Tech CenterIn the northeast corner is the High Tech
Center, which provides
Services to Students with Disabilities. These include computers and machines with special
audio-visual capabilities.
Card CatalogIn the alcove just to the south of the stairwell is the Card
Catalog. Since the Card Catalog was superseded by the EUREKA computer catalog, card filing
has been discontinued so that the Card Catalog reflects nothing published after 1991.
There are two EUREKA stations on this floor, marked by bright yellow signs. U.S. Census MaterialsThe southernmost range of orange shelving. The shelves facing
south at the far end contain U.S. Census Materials, while on the near end they are the
Sorting Area for the LOWER LEVEL books. Materials which have been recently returned or
recently used are shelved in the Sorting Area in broad call number order for a short time
before they are reshelved where they belong. The Friends of the Library
schedule a book sale twice a month on
the first and third Thursdays for items donated to the Library that are not added to the
collection. Proceeds benefit the CSUS Library. Elevator LobbyIn this North Elevator lobby on this and every floor are
restrooms, water fountains, pay phones, and doors to the stairway. In addition, on the
first and third floors, there are free campus phones which are tan-colored. On the walls
beside the elevators and inside the elevators are maps and directories of the Library. You
may go to any floor from here, or return to the main lobby on 1 NORTH to exit the Library. This is the end of the CSUS Library Virtual Tour.
