Records Management
The
University Archives serves as the permanent repository for records that
have long term administrative, legal, fiscal, and historical value.
The primary mission of the University Archives
is to manage, preserve, and provide access to these records in support
of administration, outreach, teaching, and research.
University records are public records that must
have a predetermined retention period. They can be destroyed,
transferred to the State Records Center, or transferred to the
University Archives only in accordance with the predetermined period.
The University is bound by legally mandated
retention periods for a variety of records. The official schedule to be
used for this purpose is the CSU Records Disposition Schedule.
Records disposition and records management
adheres to state law. The campus records management policy is outlined
in the University Policy Manual.
