Learn below about some of the special resources and services for faculty provided by different departments in the California State University, Sacramento Llibrary. Faculty carrels: A limited number of individual study rooms are available for faculty. Contact Library Administration at 278-5679.

Purchase Requests

To recommend that the Library acquire specific materials, including books, journals, databases, and multimedia, contact the appropriate Faculty Liaison or the Coordinator of Collection Development, Tamara Frost Trujillo; 278-7508.

New Titles Cataloged Lists of new books in Eureka are available.

Checkout Period

Books: The campus OneCard serves as your Library card. Faculty can borrow up to 100 items for a six-month loan, subject to recall after 3 weeks.

Journals: Neither current nor bound journals circulate; however, exceptions may be granted. For assistance, consult a Reference Librarian on Level 2, or call 278-5673.

Special library services are provided to faculty and students who are teaching or enrolled in Sacramento State Distance and Distributed Education classes.

Schedule an Instruction Session or contact the Library Liaison for your department

Presentations will be designed to meet the requirements of your class assignment. The Library offers a 15 workstation teaching laboratory (Room 2024), a 30 workstation teaching laboratory (Room 2023), and a larger demonstration room (Room 2022).

Adding Library Resources to WebCT Phone: 278-7509

InterLibrary LOAN (ILLiad) Phone 278-6395

ILL provides assistance to current students, faculty and employees of Sacramento State in procuring loans of books and copies of articles that are not in the Sac State Library collection. Personnel make use of an international network and cooperative lending agreements with other libraries to identify and request materials.


Library Media Center/Microforms (LMC) Phone: 278-5665

Media materials (videos, CDs, etc.) as well as microforms (microfilm, microfiche, microcards) are located in LMC. Two rooms equipped for large screen projection (rooms 1522 and 1533) can be scheduled for class visits. Both also have multimedia stations with Internet access. Media can be placed on reserve at LMC. Feature film and video collections are available for overnight loan. Instructional films are for classroom and library use. Video preview stations for faculty are also available.

In addition to regular reference service, the Reference department sponsors electronic reference and office consultations with subject specialists.

CSUS faculty may submit requests in person, mail, or by e-mail . For each request include the following information:

  • author, title clearly marked
  • professors name, last name and initials
  • course and number (e.g., Mgmt 174)
  • loan period (e.g., 2-hour, 24-hour, 3-day, 1 week)

CSUS faculty are encouraged to contact the department for assistance with integration of primary sources into their classroom teaching. Instructional sessions may be arranged throughout the semester with the department head.
